A matchday which saw 16 goals hit the net saw sides like Sunshine Stars, Enyimba, Shooting Stars earn respective wins while the top of the table clash between Remo Stars and Rivers United ended in a stalemate.

The Matchday began on Saturday with Sunshine Stars, Enyimba and Kano Pillars securing victories in their games.

Sunshine Stars smashed Lobi stars at the Akure Township Stadium through a brace from Samson Olasupo and another from Ugochukwu Leonard. The Akure Gunners have now kept three successive clean sheets.

Kano Pillars had Mark Daniel 90+1 minute strike to thank as they edged embattled Heartland 1-0 in Owerri.

Austin Oladapo inspired Enyimba to a 2-1 victory over travellers Katsina United. His goal a minute to halftime alongside Emeka Obioma’s 68th minute winner gifted the People’s Elephants maximum points even though Somari Alalibo restored parity at the hour mark.

In Lagos, Damilare Olatunji’s goal inside the first five minutes of the game was all visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan needed to trounce MFM of Lagos in the Southwest derby which ensued between both sides. It was the first victory for the Oluyole Warriors away from home in the top-flight since 2016/17 season when they recorded the same scoreline at the same ground.

The biggest game had to be the one that took place in Ikenne Remo, Ogun State where Remo Stars and Rivers United settled for a 1-1 draw.

Andy Okpe tapped home a dangerous cross from Ifegwu Ojukwu to put the home side ahead at the Ikenne Stadium but Chijioke Akuneto capitalized on a goalkeeping mishap from Remo goalie Kayode Bankole to level matters. The game had Super Eagles gaffer Austin Eguavoen in attendance.
