Super Eagles and Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis Blessing Bonaventure could miss out on a spot when the Eagles’ squad list for the playoffs in March is released.
Current Eagles Gaffer, Austin Eguavoen has commenced working on the list of players who will be invited to execute the World Cup playoffs double-header against Ghana come March.
This comes next on his agenda as he has been confirmed to be the man chosen to lead the Eagles’ charge against Ghana after the breakdown of talks with Portugese Jose Peseiro according to OwnGoalNigeria.
Jose Peseiro had been favoured to replace Eguavoen immediately after the Afcon’21 in Cameroon but the move failed to materialize as talks appear to have broken down as per certain clauses embedded in the contract.
Eguavoen is reportedly interested in retaining 95% of the squad that he took to Cameroon where a 1-0 loss to Tunisia sent them packing as he prepares for the all-important double-headed encounter with neighbours Ghana.
OwnGoalNigeria gathered that as low as three players could get the nod of returning to the fold and they are Victor Osimhen, Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo as Olisah Ndah, Peter Olayinka and Henry Onyekuru are likely to make way.
However, the big deal is that Watford’s hitman, Emmanuel Dennis could be missing out on the blow-in as sources have indicated that he won’t be in the squad for the playoff but could be looked at if the team qualifies for the World Cup and it is dependent on his form by then.
An unnamed member of the backroom staff while stating the reason for this bold move said he Watford ace missed out on “a chance to be part of the team owing to his decision to shun an invitation to be a part of the team for the AFCON”
