The most anticipated football game in this season of the University of Ilorin Football League is going down today, Sunday, February 13th, 2022, at 2:30pm at the University of Ilorin Mainbowl Stadium.

These two teams have proven to be the best sides in this season’s edition and they’d both compete for the most prestigious title.

City Boys FC advanced to the finals of this year’s 5.0 edition of the Unilorin league after defeating previous year’s finalist who are also 2019 Champions H-High FC 2-0 in the semi-finals.

The semi-final match was a violence oriented one which saw H-High FC’s leading goalscorer Olamilekan Dembele getting sent off.

The speedster received his marching orders after getting his second yellow card (both in the second half). He however led some of his teammates to manhandle the center referee and it resulted into the match being suspended.

The LBC then decided that H-High FC would be disqualified due to atrocities committed, according to a statement released by the league organisers.

Zeus FC, on the other hand, thrashed Skillz FC in a one-sided match, winning 5-1 on aggregate over two legs. Zeus FC’s Gbadebo Temitope Joshua (Africa) scored a hat-trick in the return leg to eliminate Skillz FC’s hopes of reaching the finals for the second time, having previously lost in the semi-finals to H-High FC.

The Bolts have remained unbeaten all season, proving to be the most consistent team at this year’s edition.

It’s going to be an historic final either ways as both teams have a point to prove.

FC Zeus have never won the championship before and since it became an abridged version, they’ve never made it to the knockout stages before.

City Boys are however aiming to make history by being champions for the third time in five seasons, which would be the most by any team since the inception of the league in 2016.

Both sides are not strangers to each other as they’ve faced each other in the group stages with FC Zeus having the bragging rights.
