Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Super Eagles and Porto left back, Zaidu Sanusi.

The Magpies are hoping to establish a strong team under their new owners. In the last transfer window, they were linked with Nigerian forwards Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen, but no deal was struck.

Matt Target is only available until the end of the season, after which he will return to his parent club Aston Villa. Newcastle are short on talent at left-back.

Sanusi might be the right substitute for Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummet, who have both underperformed this season.

Since his arrival from Santa Clara three years ago, Sanusi has been a standout for Porto. For the Dragons, he has been the go-to left-back.

The 24-year-old has scored one goal in 13 league outings for the former Portuguese champions this season.

Sanusi’s contract is up in three years, but abola indicates that Newcastle are interested in signing him this summer.

Newcastle is currently fighting relegation, but if they stay up, the Premier League’s allure could be enough to entice the Nigerian speedster to join them.
