Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone believes Manchester United are one the best teams in the world at the moment.
The Spanish champions host Manchester United in Champions League last-16 first leg today, Wednesday.
It will be the first European meeting between the two sides since 1991/92 Cup Winners’ Cup.
“We’re facing one of the best teams in the world in the last 14 games, if I’m not mistaken. They’ve just lost one. With the new manager, Ralf Rangnick, it’s given the team solidity, teamwork, commitment.” Simeone said at the pre match press conference.
The 51-year-old Argentine gaffer also praised five times Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo has got the better of Simeone’s side in all six of the Champions League campaigns they have pitted their wits against one and other.
“Ronaldo is a monster, an extraordinary footballer and he has been decisive wherever he has been.
“Obviously he has done us a lot of damage whenever he has played with us.
“He has a team that accompanies him that is very good, United is a historical of world football.” He said to AS.
