With a 3-1 home triumph over Mainz on Saturday afternoon, Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first Bundesliga goal of 2022 and helped Union Berlin end a three-match losing run.

For several weeks, Awoniyi had been without a goal in the Bundesliga, having not scored for Urs Fischer’s side since scoring in a 2-1 defeat against RB Leipzig on December 3rd, a span of 444 minutes.
