Paris Saint Germain midfielder, Marco Verratti has said that the French Ligue One leaders won’t be going to Madrid to adopt a defensive style.

Courtois denied the seven times Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi, a chance to put PSG ahead in the first leg, before Mbappé’s moment of magic condemned Real Madrid to their second defeat away from home in the last 16 games.

Verratti believes the win at the Parc des Princes gives them a slight advantage over Madrid.

“We’ve got a slight advantage but that doesn’t mean anything, we can’t just look to defend, especially because that’s not our style of play. And we don’t know how to do that.

“I think we need to be strong mentally, and stay true to ourselves. We’ll need to try and play our game and be at 100%, whether it’s mentally or technically.

Madrid didn’t manage to register a single shot on target in Paris, just the second time they have done so in the Champions League since 2003-04, with the other occasion also coming against PSG in September 2019.

The 29-years-old midfielder has urged his team-mates to forget about their first leg triumph and focus on the second leg.

“I don’t think we can think about the first leg and the result too much. It’s like we played the first half and we’ve still got the second half to play”, he concluded.
