Super Eagles William Troost Ekong has returned to full training with Watford FC.

As per the Watford official website on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022, the defender joined up with his other teammates for training.

“William Troost-Ekong makes his return to full training today following a minor groin problem, but tomorrow’s Molineux encounter is likely to come too soon for the Nigeria captain,” the statement reads.

Ekong’s last football game for ‘The Hornets’ was against Tottenham at the Vicarahe road in January.

The 28-year-old defender featured in all of Nigeria’s four games at the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, wining the man of the match award against Guinea-Bissau.

Troost Ekong’s availability will come as a boost to the camp of the Super Eagles, as they prepare for the World Cup play-offs against Ghana this month.

Nigeria take on Ghana in the 20,000 –capacity Cape Coast Sports Stadium as from 7.30pm on Friday 25th March, with the reverse leg set for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March as from 6pm.
