Victor Osimhen says it is important for Napoli to “react” against Hellas Verona on Sunday after their defeat against Serie A leaders, AC Milan.

Napoli lost at home for the first time this year in the league, as Olivier Giroud 49th minute strike condemned Spaletti’s men to third position on the log.

“The defeat against Milan hurt us, even if we are aware that we played a strong team. But it’s hard to digest” confessed the Napoli striker, interviewed by Radio Kiss Kiss.

Osimhen felt Napoli could have been awarded a penalty when Fikayo Tomori fouled him inside the box.

“It was obviously a foul, I didn’t try to protest because I would have been cautioned. I expected the referee to review the play in the VAR, but that was not the case. Too bad, but let’s go ahead: the referee’s decision must be accepted.

Not denying the fact that the deafest to Milan dampened Napoli’s chances of lifting the trophy they last won in 1990, Osimhen believes it is not over yet and want the fans to keep their hopes alive.

“We believe in it and we must all do it, despite Sunday’s match. We are strong, even if we will have many difficult matches to play like the next against Verona, it will be important to get back to achieving results and we will go there with the right mentality and react.”

The U17 2015 Golden Boot winner with Nigeria said wining the Scudetto with Napoli will be a dream come true for him and for the fans of Napoli.

“I can’t wait to live it. The Scudetto would be something incredibly great for me that, in addition to scoring, I hope to win with Napoli. These people deserve such goals.”

Napoli are three points behind the Rossoneri at the top of the table. They travel to Verona who are hunting for a place in European football next season.
