Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski is set to leave the Bundesliga Champions at the end of his current contract in June 2023.
The Polish Striker current salary is in the region of 24 million euros. Bayern Munich do not want to increase this, as they feel that no player deserves to be paid any more than 25 million. This is in order to keep the club’s finances healthy.
According to the Sport Bild, there are two options for Lewandowski: either the 33-year-old extends his contract by one year until 2024 and keeps his current salary or he commits himself until 2025 and accepts a lower salary per season due to his growing age.
The 2020 and 2021 FIFA best player has 43 goals so far in all competitions this season for the Bavarian side.
Lewandowski reportedly asked his agent, Pini Zahavi to speed up the Real Madrid move.
Manchester United have made it clear that they are interested in landing the goal scoring machine next summer.
Tobias Altschäffl, a reporter confirmed United’s interest in the Bayern star.
“I can say with certainty that they are interested,” he told the Bayern Insider podcast.
“They have been interested in Lewandowski before, but that doesn’t mean that he will sign for United in the next few weeks. It’s not like that.”
A team with the Polish striker and Cristiano Ronaldo would be seen as one of the best attacks in the world.
