Super Eagles defender, Valentine Ozornwafor was in action for the Zebras as they seal a place in the Belgian Jupiler League play-offs.
It was the last day of the classic phase of the Pro League with seven matches played at the same time.
Charleroi scored the first goal of the evening courtesy Vakoun Bayo, who got rid of Ewoud Pletinckx before beating the visitors goalkeeper, Sammy Bossut in the third minute to give the host the lead.
Bayo extended the hosts lead in the 23rd minute before Zulte Waregem Ibrahima Seck scored an own goal in the 28th minute, to give the host a convenient lead before the break.
Reacting after the game, the former Almeria defender, Valentine Ozornwafor said : “First and foremost I will like to thank God almighty:
“I never saw it coming, it hasn’t been an easy season but here we are, we’ve qualified for the playoffs and we are happy, super excited. Talking about the game, we had a clean sheet and I can say it’s one of the easiest game I have played this season so far.” The lanky defender said to OJBSPORT.
Speaking to Sporting Charleroi TV, Togolese defender, Loïc Bessilé was also delighted with his teams performance for the night.
“We had to be serious, disciplined. We followed the instructions well. Now we are going to analyze three teams that we know well to be the most efficient. He said.
Charleroi finishes sixth on the log and ends the regular competition in sixth place. The Zebras will now play Gent, KV Mechelen and Genk in the Europe play-offs.
