Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic has confirmed he is leaving the Manchester club at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old contract with the Red Devils is expected to end in the summer of 2023, but he has decided to leave a year earlier.
Matic took to his Instagram to announce his decision to leave.
“After a great deal of thought, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision.
“It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support.
“I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible.” He wrote.
Matic joined Manchester United from Chelsea in 2017 for £35million rising to £40m. He has made 183 appearances for the Reds since signing from the London club.
But failed to failed to win a trophy at Old Trafford, with his five-year association with Manchester United seeing them reach two cup finals and lose both.
Manchester United now have a lot to worry about their midfield. Paul Pogba is set to become a free agent at the end of this campaign with talk of renewal not looking good.
