Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has announced the death of his son across his social media handles.
Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez announced in October that they were expecting twins, with the couple not revealing the gender of the twins.
“It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you,” they wrote. The post was also signed by Georgina Rodriguez.
Georgina and Ronaldo have four children, twins Eva Maria and Mateo, eldest son Cristiano Jr. and youngest Alana Martina.
The Portuguese star scored his second Premier League hat-trick in three games to fire Manchester United to a 3-2 victory over Norwich at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Ronaldo’s Man Utd teammate Marcus Rashford responded to the announcement with a heartfelt reply : “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother.” His sentiments were echoed by fellow United star David de Gea, who simply posted a red heart in response.
