Paris Saint Germain head coach, Mauricio Pochettino says he will like to keep Kylian Mbappé in the French capital club.

The French striker’s contract with PSG is set to expire at the end of June, and he has rejected a number of previous contract offers from PSG.

According to various reports, Mbappé’s parents are currently in Qatar on vacation and also speaking with the French capital club leaders over an extension.

Asked if Mbappé’s contract-saga affects his work as the head coach, Pochettino said : “That doesn’t bother me as a coach, you have to understand these types of situation. It is not just Paris Saint Germain, but this happens at every club.

“It is not the first time and it won’t be the last. You have to adapt to every circumstance and personal situation involving players with regard to their club and contracts.

The former Tottenham coach didn’t hold back his desire to keep the Ligue 1 2020/2021 golden boot winner.

“On a selfish level, I would like to keep him. And take him on holiday with me, take him home. Of course I would like to keep him. We all would. We will like him to renew and stay with the club. That is very obvious. We all agree on that. It will be important for him to stay, but these decisions comes down to the player, the club, and different parties.

“I also understand that decisions will come after we achieve our goal of winning the league at the end of the season. It is not just about Kylian Mbappé and the club, but there are other individual cases as well. Talks will begin and decisions will be made when the target had been achieved, and I think that his the best thing for the club. And the players.” Pochettino added.

A draw or a win against Lens tomorrow will see PSG claim their 10th French title and equal the overall record for most titles held by Saint Etienne.
