Italian football agent, Mino Raiola has died after suffering from an illness according to various Italian outlets.
Mino Raiola was one of the most powerful figures in football, responsible for handling stars as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Matthijs de Ligt and Romelu Lukaku.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Raiola had suffered from a long-term illness for which he was hospitalised in January, and which had worsened in the last few weeks.
Born in Italy but raised in the Netherlands, Raiola got his career to a start by expanding his parents’ restaurant business.
The 54-year-old agent was nicknamed ‘Super Agent’ due to his ability to negotiate juicy offers and having top clients in his books.
He closed the then world-record transfer of Pogba to Manchester United in 2016 while also making a profitable return himself. He pocketed a reported €25 million (£22m) for the France international’s €105m (£92m/$117m) move.
His list of players was incredible; Erling Haaland, Matthijs de Ligt, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Stefan De Vrij, Marco Verratti, Hirving Lozano, Denzel Dumfries, Donyell Malen, Justin Kluivert, Noussair Mazraoui, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and co.
Pending further information, the entire OJBSPORT team joins the agent’s family in expressing its deepest condolences.
