The nominees for the 2021/22 Premier League Player of the season has been announced.

Eight outstanding players made the list. Liverpool’s duo Mohammed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and João Cancelo, Tottenham Hotspur Hueng Min Son, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.

Each nominee is shortlisted based on their performances on the field during the ongoing season, in addition to their influence both on the pitch and around the club on a day-to-day level.

Kevin De Bruyne who won the 2020/2021 award, will be hoping to retain the award if Manchester City retains the Premier League.

Former Aston Villa captain, Gabby Agbonlahor, thinks Heung-Min Son should win the award. According to him, there is no penalty in the 21 goals the South Korean international has scored in the Premier League so far this season for Antonio Conte’s side.

“I know it might be controversial but Son. He’s scored 18-19 Premier League goals, no penalties, he’s been on fire. Left foot, right foot, smashing ’em in.

“If I could vote for a player now for the Premier League player of the season, I’d pick Son.”

Son was on target for Tottenham on Thursday in their North London derby.
