Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta admits Newcastle were better than Arsenal in the latter part of the Premier League game at the St James’ Park.
Arteta’s men suffered their second defeat in a row, putting their top four finish hopes in tatters.
Newcastle were dominant in the first half, controlling over 60 percent of ball possession. The Magpies got rewarded for their bravery in the second half when Aaron Ramsey scored an own goal to give the visors the lead.
With just over five minutes left to play, Bruno Guimaraes put the game beyond any doubt to put Newcastle in a comfortable position.
“Normally I sit here I can defend what we’ve done. Today I cannot. Arteta said, Newcastle were hundred times better in the end.
The Spanish gaffer was asked about his team inability to comeback from behind.
“We need to find ways to do it. The amount of changes that we’ve made in the game are huge. We were extremely poor in every department that you can win a game. He said.
The result means Tottenham now have the initiative and enjoy a two-point lead over the Gunners going into the final day – where they make the trip to already relegated and bottom-placed Norwich City.
