The 2022 Basketball Africa League Finals tip off this weekend in Kigali, Rwanda with lots of side attractions.

Defending Champion Zamalek, AS Sale, REG, SLAC, FAP, Petro de Luanda, Cape Town Tigers and US Monastir are the eight teams fighting for the baobab-inspired trophy.

Zamalek is on an 11-game winning streak in the BAL after winning all five of its games during the Nile Conference group phase. The Egyptian side also finished last season 6-0 to win the first BAL championship.

At the opening ceremony on May 21, there will be performamces from A-List Rwandan artists: Arnold Ishimwe (DJ Toxxyc) and Mashirika.

Rap artist Ish Kevine, Ruti Joel, DJ Makeda Mahadeo, Bushali, DJ Marmaud and
Mike Kayihura will also grace the occasion during the Championship week.

There will be a Fan Zone available to only ticket holders and accessible three hours before tip-off on game day and one hour after the last game.

Part of the activities in the Fan zone are the 3×3 challenge on the 3×3 court, stage and live performances, merchandise, food court and many more.

The Basketball Africa League will join the continent on May 25 to celebrate “Africa Day”. It is a global commemoration of the founding of the African Union and celebrates the continent’s diversity, success, and cultural impact. 

The 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) finals from May 21 – 28 is going to be open to the public, fans, media, and guests in Rwanda, from across Africa and the world.
