Finalist at the inaugural edition Basketball Africa League, US Monastir have reached the semi finals of the Basketball Africa League after a 106-67 victory over Cape Town Tigers on Sunday in Kigali.
US Monastir were dominant in the paint 40-26 and showed how much of a team game they executed as they recorded 32 assists and outrebounded the Tigers 51-28.
Cape Town Tigers gave a good fight in the first half and gave it their all on the court but were down by 11 (33-44) at half time.
The South Africans continued the momentum in the third quarter despite being outscored by 1 point (27-26) as they took a 12 point deficit to the fourth (71-59).
Cape Town Tigers shot just 8 points in the entire fourth quarter against 35 points made by the Tunisians.
With 1:40 left to play, Neji Jaziri hit a three pointer and made it a third at the sound of the buzzer to record 10 points and three rebounds from the bench against Cape Town Tigers.
Six players finished on double figures for US Monastir; Michael Andre Dixon, Radhouane Slimane, Mohamed Ghayaza, Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate, Firas Lahyani and Jaziri all combined for 85 points.
Evans Ganapamo (10), Billy Preston (17), Cleananthony Early (15), Pieter Prinsloo (14) all scored in double digits for the debutants.
US Monastir will face the winner between Zamalek and SLAC in the semifinals on Wednesday.
