Defending champions Zamalek have reached the semi finals for a second consecutive Basketball Africa League season.
The Egyptians dug deep to beat SLAC 66-49 as they extended their Basketball Africa League record to 12-0. The team is yet to lose a game in the history of the competition.
Zamalek took a 33-21 lead to the break against a depleted SLAC team with just nine players on the roster. The Guinean team still outrebounded Zamalek 53-48 and shot more points in the paint 40-24.
Moustafa Kejo scored a double-double 14 point and 12 rebounds, Edga Sosa added 13points while DJ Strawberry made 12 points for Zamalek.
Though he had a low scoring game, Anas Mahmoud made 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
Two players finished with a double-double for SLAC. Dane Anthony Miller Jr had 11 points and 14 rebounds including 4 assists in 40 minutes while Oumar Barry contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes.
Mohamed Lamont Keita shot 12 points and 8 rebounds against Zamalek.
In a repeat of last season’s final, Zamalek will face US Monastir in the second semifinal game on Wednesday.
