Fikayo Tomori who is of Nigeria descent but plays for the England national team has admitted that turning down the Super Eagles invitation to play for the Three Lions has been one of his hardest football career decision.
The 24-year-old Milan center back joined from Chelsea for a deal worth around €30million after spending 6 months on loan prior to that.
Tomori chose to play for England at senior level over Nigeria and Canada three years ago. He admitted that Nigeria made the most push for him to represent his fatherland.
“I was at a stage where I played for Canada at youth level then later England. At senior level Nigeria had this thing with me due to my parents. I follow the senior national team of Nigeria a lot as a kid and as expected my parents saw it as a dream if play for Nigeria”, he told Milan based podcast Forza Milan.
“If I say it is one of the difficult decision of my career, then it’s not a lie. It still remains one of the hardest decision of my career”, he added.
