Petro de Luanda of Angola will face Tunisia’s US Monastir in the final of the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) at the Kigali Arena on Saturday, May 28.
The Angolan champions beat Forces Armées et Police (FAP) 88-74 to become the first team to reach the 2022 BAL Final.
Childe Dundão had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and added 3 steals, including three 3-pointers.
Jone Pedro came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds, Gerson Goncalves Lukeny contributed 13 points, and Yanick Moreira finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds off the bench for Petro.
It was Petro de Luanda’s third win over FAP in as many encounters over the last twelve months.
In the second semi final, last year losing finalist US Monastir ended Zamalek’s 12 game -unbeaten run in the BAL with an 88-81 victory on Wednesday.
Radhouane Slimane led the way with a team-high 21 points, Michael Dixon added 20 points and Julius Coles Jr. contributed 19 points to help Monastir improve their current BAL record to 6-1.
Mikhael McKinney finished with a game-high of 26 points off bench , including five rebounds and shot 12/13 from the free throw line while Edgar Sosa had 19, Ike Diogu added 11 points and 9 rebounds but it was not enough to save the day for Zamalek.
US Monastir will battle Petro de Luanda on Saturday May 28 whil the third place game will be between Zamalek and FAP.
