Super Eagles will leave Abuja for Morocco on Saturday for their match against São Tomé and Principe in their second AFCON 2023 qualifying game.

On Friday, Jose Peseiro and his assistant coaches trained the Super Eagles players who did not feature in Thursday’s win while those that played were restricted to gym sessions only.

However, subsequent training sessions were full fledged and every player participated.

Super Eagles will face Sao Tome and Principe with the aim of securing three points and accumulating goal difference after starting the group in second place after matchday 1 by virtue of goal difference.

Innocent Bonke is reported to be available for selection in midfield after recovering from injury. However, Nigeria may be without vice captain, William Troost-Ekong who suffered an injury due to poor pitch condition in the last match.

Nigeria’s opponent, São Tomé and Principe were trashed 5-1 by Guinea Bissau in the first round of group stage games.

São Tomé and Principe are ranked 50th in Africa and 183rd in the world. They should be a walk in the park for the Super Eagles if they bring their A game.
