Barcelona are reportedly serious on landing Aston Villa’s teen star, Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 18-year-old made his debut for Villa in August 2021 in a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
He made 12 league appearances last season for the Claret and Blue as he stuck around the first team squad to continue his development.
Born in Austria to Nigerian parents. Chukwuemeka signed a three-year deal at Villa Park after his 17th birthday last year, the maximum contract for a player of that age.
According to Mundo, Barcelona’s representatives met with peers from Villa to discuss the goal-scoring midfielder’s career in May.
Aston Villa’s coach, Steven Gerrard in March 2022, shared in that contract negotiations with him had not developed. He said: “As far as I know they haven’t progressed. We’ve done everything we can from our side to try and make them progress. I’m not sure where that’s up to at the moment.”
The Catalan club side recently reactivated their interest in the England U19 player and will do everything possible to get him.
Arsenal’s legend, Paul Merson described him as an outstanding player.
