Chelsea are set to complete seal the deal for Kalidou Koulibaly within 24 hours, with Napoli receiving €40m including bonuses according to various reports.

The 31-year-old has verbally agreed personal terms and talks are progressing at such speed that a deal could be completed and signed off by the end of today, Wednesday.

Koulibaly’s contract with Napoli is due to expire in June 2023 and he rejected an initial proposal to renew with his wages halved, then did not give a response to the second offer at €6m per season.

The Senegal international will earn £160,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge, in addition to various performance related bonuses.

The AFCON winner was meant to arrive at Napoli’s training camp in Dimaro this evening, but he remained on vacation in Milan.

Chelsea will hope to wrap up a deal for Koulibaly by the end of the week and will then focus on signing two more centre-backs, with Tuchel keen to bring in both Nathan Ake and Presnel Kimpembe.
