Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey is on the verge of joining Ajax from Rangers this summer.

The highly rated Rangers defender is been sought after by many teams including Ajax and Brighton.

Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder is reported to be very interested in the super eagles star should Lisandro Martinez complete his move to Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was signed from Leicester two years ago for just 230,000 but he is expected to not be sold for less than £20 million this summer.

Brighton and a number of Seria A club are also interested in the young center back who still has two years left on his contract.

Bassey his appreciated for his versatility and ability on the ball. The defender is settled at Rangers but a bid over £20 million could sway him away from Ibrox with both of his Nigerian club teammates leaving the Scottish club this summer.

The former Leicester city defender was named in the Europa league team of the year last season after Ranger finished as runner-up, he was also instrumental to last season’s Scottish cup triumph.
