Super Eagles midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali has joined Spanish Segunda side, Sociedad Deportiva Ponferradina.
The former Arsenal midfielder who is currently a free agent has agreed terms with the Sociedad Deportiva Ponferradina and has been unveiled by the Blue and White team.
Nwakali’s contract was terminated by Huesca towards the end of last season. He claimed the club refused to pay his wages while his mother took ill and threatened to leave him out of the team following his decision to compete at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
The former Golden Eaglets star was recently rumoured to have turned down a move to Swiss Super League side, FC Zurich over a financial agreement. A rumour his brother, Allwell Nwakali debunked.
“Kelechi never received an official offer from FZ Zurich not to talk of refusing an offer because of money.
“Kelechi is committed to playing football in a club with a good footballing project and money is not the primary consideration for him at this time. Allwell said to Goal.
