Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane believes Anthony Martial won’t be the answer to Manchester United attack, should Ronaldo leave Old Trafford.
The five time ballon d’Or winner reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford this summer as he is desperate to play in the Champions League.
In the absence of Ronaldo, Martial has led the line, scoring three goals in five starts during United’s pre-season schedule but sustained an injury in the 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday.
Speaking to Sky Sports about Ronaldo’s departure and Anthony Martial place in the team, Roy Keane insisted it isn’t right to let Ronaldo go now.
“You can’t let Ronaldo go out the door and think Martial is going to be the answer, Martial isn’t the answer. He’s had a decent pre-season? Big deal.
“But they haven’t got enough of options at this moment, it may change over the next few weeks. At this moment from a footballer point of view you have to hold on to Ronaldo.
“You just can’t let him go when you haven’t got the back up behind him.” He said.
