Super Eagles forward, Sadiq Umar got his first goal of the 22/23 La Liga season as UD Almeria held Elche to a 1-1 draw at the Manuel Martinez Valero Stadium.
Sadiq Umar has been subjected to a lot of transfer news and rumors this summer with Villarreal keen on signing him and his club president openly admitting that he may leave the club soon.
In spite of this transfer rumors, Umar put on a show yesterday for his club side, reminding us how classy he is as a footballer.
The 25-year-old scored the first goal of the night with a beautifully directed header into the net from a corner. He gave the visitors a one goal lead in the 23rd minute.
However, the lead didn’t last for long as Elche got their equalizer seven minutes later through an astonishing string of passes that set up Collado to strike the ball to the bottom corner of the net beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.
Centelles was given his marching orders in the 32nd minute for serious foul play, making UD Almeria play the last hour of football with ten players.
Both teams created more chances but neither could put the ball in the net and the game ended 1-1.
