Barcelona forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered broken jaw after being attacked at home in an armed robbery and is expected to be out for four or five weeks.
The former Dortmund and Arsenal forward was attacked by masked men armed with firearms and iron bars yesterday, Tuesday, at his home in Castelldefels area of the Catalan capital.
Aubameyang was struck on the chin with an iron bar, while his wife, Alysha Behague suffered a blow to the head, but they decided against hospital treatment in order not to further frighten their kids.
He was forced to open a safe inside the property, with the men taken multiple valuable items from the safe, including pieces of jewellery, before fleeing in a white Audi A3.
The 33-year-old forward moved his family to a five-star hotel following their violent robbery ordeal, as it emerged the forward turned down advice to hire 24-hour security.
Aubameyang who has been heavily linked to return to London on a loan deal with Chelsea, may not see the dream of reuniting with his former boss, Thomas Tuchel who is looking to replace Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, who both left the club.
The Gabonese forward has netted 13 goals in 24 Barcelona appearances but has been an unused substitute in each of their last two La Liga matches, including Sunday night’s four-goal victory at home to Real Valladolid.
“There is a market that ends on August 31 and we will see what will happen. I am counting on him and tomorrow it could be important, but we will see the circumstances,” Xavi said after the game against Real Valladolid.
“We are going to assess. Neither Auba nor Memphis has come out and tomorrow we will be able to use them. We have to see how the squad turns out. The priority is to sign up Kounde,” he added.
