Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema has deactivated his social media accounts, Instagram and Twitter in the early hours of today, September 4th.

The 34-year-old 2021- 2022 Pichichi award winner was in action for Los Blancos in their 2-1 hard fought victory yesterday, against Real Betis at home.

Fans began to notice that his Instagram handle, @Karimbenzema and Twitter handle, @Benzema now says, “User not found.”

Social Media Reactions

Some fans believes he deleted his account because of the arrival of Polish forward, Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker who joined the Catalan club from Bayern Munich this summer in a deal worth around €45 million has taken no time at all in adjusting to the pace of La Liga football.

Lewandowski was on target in Barcelona’s 3-0 win away to Sevilla on Saturday night. Taking his goal tally to five.

Benzema has three goals this season, one against Celta Vigo and two against Espanyol.

Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti said the French forward isn’t untouchable and may need to rest him sometimes because of the congested fixtures.

“It’s not true that Benzema doesn’t have replacements because he does. Mariano, Hazard, Rodrygo, and sometimes Asensio or Modrić. He has a substitute, so we’re not going to destroy him.

“We play every three games after this one. I might need to rest him for one of the games. He’s been playing every week. He wasn’t at his sharpest in terms of his finishing today, but it wasn’t because of a lack of fitness”.
