Quadri Aruna has won the Africa Championship title in the most spectacular fashion by completing a comeback from 0-2 down to 4-3 over arch-rival Omar Assar of Egypt.
The two African Table Tennis great met again in their third consecutive final with Quadri Aruna winning this bout after losing the previous championship.
The Egyptian started the game well, cruising to a 2-0 lead with 5 sets to go. Quadri Aruna tried to pull one back and fight for the championship but Omar Assar restored the two goal lead to ensure a 3-1 lead after four sets.
The Nigerian superstar, Quadri Aruna was not giving up as he came back from 3-1 to complete a 4-3 comeback, winning the last three sets 11-7, 13-11 and 14-12.
In the semifinal, Quadri Aruna defeated his Nigerian compatriot Mati Taiwo to progress to the final.
