FC Barcelona are set to move for their arch-rivals forward in the summer with the star not minding changing his loyalty.
The Catalonia club is set to snatch Marco Asensio from the Los Blancos with the Spaniard contract expiring in the summer.
Barcelona are rebuilding under manager Xavi Hernandez with the club already renewing contracts of youngsters like Ansu Fati, Pedri, Gavi and signing both experienced and young players like Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Andre Christensen, Marcos Alonso, Frank Kessie among others.
Asensio has been struggling to get game time under Carlo Ancelloti at Real Madrid with Rodrigues and Vinicius Jr in their best form. His contract expiring next summer could be the perfect avenue to leave for free to another big Spanish club.
According to CORE, Asensio wouldn’t mind leaving Real Madrid for Barcelona.
“As of January I can sign for any club and it is normal for many rumors to come out,” he said.
“I’ve never thought about a future at Barça, I have not valued it… so, I don’t know!
“Right now, I can’t answer. We’ll see what happens, you never know in the world of football. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Should the 26-year-old leave Real Madrid for Barcelona, he will join Ronaldo Nazario, Samuel Eto’o, Luis Figo, Luis Henrique and a select few to have played for both giant clubs.
