Teenage Nigerian goalkeeper has been promoted to Danish SuperLiga giant club, FC Midtjylland’s first team.

Mark Nnamdi Ugboh, 18 joined FC Midtjylland in January 2022 from FC Ebedei after showing much prospect from the Nigerian based club.

Ugboh impressed with FC Midtjylland’s U-19 side, keeping five clean sheets in seven appearances.

The 18-year-old was promoted to FC Midtjylland first team after signing a new contract on September 2.

“I get a lot out of training with the first team. When I got here I didn’t think it would go so fast and I’m happy with the progress I’ve made so far,”he told the club’s official website.

“The goalkeepers I train with have great qualities. I look at what they do and I try to copy them. If there is something I can’t do, I try to learn from them in the pursuit of becoming even better.”

Speaking on his progress and ability, FC Midtjylland first team goalkeeper coach, Lasse Heinze said:

“Our task is to teach Mark some things, especially in the technical field. He is already well on his way and is constantly moving,”Heinze stated.

“Now we have to work even harder, and we have to have found a way in which we can develop him even more.”

Mark Ugboh is taking the route of Super Eagles stars like Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Paul Onuachu who also starred for FC Midtjylland in the early years of their career.

The teenage goalkeeper also revealed his goalkeeping idol and hope to be in that light someday.

“My big idol is Manuel Neuer from Bayern Munich because he has so much quality. I like his confidence and leadership and he always plays well in the big games,” Ugboh told FCM’s official website.

“A lot of his saves are really good and that’s something I look up to.”
