Reece James Man of the Match performance against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night has compounded Gareth Southgate headache on choosing right back for the World Cup.

The Chelsea right back/ right wing back scored a goal and assisted one in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Seria A champions AC Milan.

Gareth Southgate have been under much pressure and scrutiny on his preferred right back going into Qatar 2022 World Cup with multiple choices such as Trent Alexander Arnold, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, and Reece James to choose from.

Arnold has been under much scrutiny for his defensive efforts but scored a great free kick on Tuesday in the UCL to assure the manager that his attacking prowess compensate for his defensive inadequacies.

However, Reece is putting much effort to show that he is as good as Trent in attack and even a better defender than the Liverpool right back.

Aged 22 years and 301 days, Reece James is the youngest Chelsea player ever to both score and assist a goal in the same UEFA Champions League game.

In addition to his attacking prowess, Since the start of last season, no defender has scored more goals in a top-five European league, Champions League, and Europa League than Reece James with 11 assists and 8 goals in 41 matches.
