Inter Milan defender, Alessandro Bastoni has been subjected to death threats by Barcelona fans online after the Champions League game against the Catalan club.
Barcelona needed a win against Inter at the Camp Nou to keep their hopes of a UCL knockout spot alive, but managed to play a scintillating 3-3 draw with the Nerazzuri’s.
After the match, Barcelona head coach, Xavi voiced his anger about the Champions League and also apologised to the fans.
“I’m sad and angry. I apologize because it’s everyone’s mistake, we had put it into our heads not to fail, but we did.
“We tell Barça fans that we will work to turn the table around and win titles.
“This competition has been very cruel, but there were mistakes from us. We made defensive mistakes, you can’t make so many mistakes in this competition because you pay costly for that.” He said.
Some Barcelona fans chose to express their disappointment in a despicable fashion. Alessandro Bastoni received death threats from angry Barcelona fans, while his partner, Camilla Bresciani, received a message titled “I’m going to cut your husband’s legs off,”
Among them, the messages promised to break Bastoni’s legs and ensure he never played football again or to simply aim a gun at him and fire.
