Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen scored on his return to the Napoli squad from injury, but has been labeled not in “good condition” by his manager, Luciano Spalleti.
Victor Osimhen stole the ball from Daley Blind to score an empty net and secure Napoli’s victory against Calvin Bassey’s Ajax.
The 23-year-old was sidelined with an hamstring injury since the 7th of September in Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool and he has been having recovery sessions including individual training and therapy in the last week.
Speaking to FG, Manager Luciano Spalleti gave his thoughts and remarks on the Nigerian striker.
“We didn’t know where Osimhen was [physically].
“It was, since he did a few trainings with us, so it was an unknown. He didn’t work for the defensive team because he wasn’t in shape .
“I had to physically lift the team and then start again from the middle of the pitch, it took the leg of someone with this characteristic.
“He has to play more with the team, he missed an easy goal, but he is here, he is not very clean in the dribble with his teammates, but for us he is an important player and 50 minutes is a lot of stuff.”
“I’m sorry for Simeone, he deserved to play. “
