Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey was sought after by some Premier League clubs last summer including Arsenal, Aston Villa and West Ham.

The former Rangers man was on the radar of these Premier League clubs after he starred for the Scottish side in the league and on the continent per owngoalnigeria.

“Arsenal contacted us and we made it known to Rangers but they didn’t follow up on the discussion. We also had interest from Aston Villa and West Ham but at the end Ajax had the best offer not in terms of money but for his development as they promised me regular game time”, a representative of the agency told OwnGoalNigeria.

The 23-year-old had earlier been in England, in the Leicester academy, although he didn’t play any senior game for the side.

The Nigerian left Leicester on a free in 2020/2021 season and in less than two years became highly sought after by top European clubs before choosing European powerhouse, Ajax.
