Super Eagles forward, Cyriel Dessers early penalty missed haunted Cremonese as they fell to a 0-1 defeat at home to fellow relegation battlers Sampdoria.

After a long VAR review for a foul on Nigerian forward David Okereke by Colley, the referee awarded Cremonese a penalty but the penalty taken by Cyriel Dessers was saved by Audrey in goal.

The first half didn’t produce many chances with both teams playing conservative football.

At the start of the second half, Cremonese we’re on the upfront, pressurizing the Sampdoria defense and recording back to back shots but no goal.

In the 60th minute, Gabbiadini replaced Sabiri and came close to scoring shortly after but his effort was well saved by Carnesecchi in the Cremonense goal.

However, in the 78th minute, a ball swung into the Cremonese box was headed down by Gabbiadini to set up Colley to break the deadlock and make it 0-1.

The match ended 0-1 in favour of Sampdoria and at the expense of two Nigerians David Okereke and Cyriel Dessers.

Sampdoria move to 18th with 6 points while Cremonese sink to the bottom with just 4 points in eleven games.
