Cody Gakpo scored with Netherland’s first shot on target in the 84th minute to inspire an uninspired Netherland side to victory against a Mane-less Senegal.

The best chance of the first half fell to Frenkie De Jong but the Barcelona midfielder wasted the chance to put the Dutch side in front.

In the second half, Boulaye Dia and Idrissa Gana Gueye’s attempted shot was well saved by Dutch debutant Andries Noppert in goal.

Netherland who had only made them six touches in Senegal’s box in the second half scored the first goal of the match with their first shot on target as Frenkie De Jong through ball was headed into the net by Cody Gakpo before Eduoard Mendy could punch the ball to make it 1-0.

Mendy was found culprit again in the last minute of the added on time as he spilled a shot from Memphis Depay towards the path of Klassen who scored the follow-up and make it 2-0.
