In a five goal thriller, Portugal came out on top with a 3-2 win over the Black Stars of Ghana.
Despite the off-field theatrics and club affiliations, Cristiano Ronaldo was back in the starting line up and ready to lead the Portuguese team to greatness. The veteran put the ball in the back of the net on the half hour mark but it was ruled out after consulting the VAR for a foul in the build up process.
However, the resilient Ghanaian defense was broken in the second half when Ronaldo stepped up to convert a penalty after a very soft penalty was given for a foul on him.
Eight minutes later, Andrew Ayew tapped the ball into the net for Ghana’s equalizer and in another five minutes, Portugal were back in front as Bruno Fernandes excellently set up Jao Felix for a calm finish.
A very conservative game has soon turned into a blockbuster show and within moments of scoring the second, Ghana lost the ball in midfield to open up space for Bruno Fernandes to run into and set up Rafa Leao who had only being on the pitch for few minutes to find the bottom corner of the net.
The game had an interesting end to it as Osman Bukari headed in at the far post to reduce the deficit to one goal.
However, it was too little too late for the Ghanaians as Portugal ensured they didn’t concede again.
