Enner Valencia scored again to clinch a draw for Ecuador against Netherland on Friday, the result seeing host nation Qatar getting knocked out of the World Cup with a group stage game to play.
PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo gave Netherland a dream start, firing a shot in to left corner from the edge of the box to score the competition fastest goal of the tournament so far at five minutes four seconds.
In the last few seconds of the first half, Ecuador were left heartbroken when their goal was ruled out for offside.
Four minutes after the restart, Andries Noppert parried the ball into the path of Valencia who poached the ball into the net to make it 1-1 and continue his World Cup goal scoring streak.
Enner Valencia has now scored the last six goals for his country at the FIFA World Cup.
Ecuador had a chance to score the winner later on in the game as Enner Valencia’s shot was blocked by Virgil VanDjik towards the path of Gonzalo Plata whose curled shot hit the crossbar.
