Maha Ayew, daughter of Ghanian captain, Andrew Ayew, reportedly collapsed after her father missed a crucial penalty against Uruguay on Friday, in Qatar.

The Black stars, who needed a point from the game to progress to the knockout of the FIFA World Cup, were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute after Mohammed Kudus went down under a challenge from the defender.

Ayew followed in the footsteps of Asamoah Gyan, missing a penalty that would have given Ghana a 1-0 lead.

The Al Sadd forward missed opportunity proved pivotal in determining the destiny of the much-talked-about fixture as the Black Stars failed to shine thereafter, subsequently losing 2-0 to Uruguay.

According to Rahman Osman, a Ghanaian journalist who’s based in the UK, Ayew’s second daughter, Maha Ayew collapsed after his dad missed from 12 yards.

‘As predicted Andre Ayew is getting it in the neck in Ghana this morning but just know that his seven year old daughter collapsed after the penalty miss. So instead of pouring hate you can be kind. There are more important things in this world than football.’ Rahman tweeted.

Reacting after the defeat, Andre Ayew said : “We had the opportunity to get to the next stage. I missed the penalty. It’s difficult to take. We did not get it right. I am very optimistic for the future. I am sad but we will try and make it better,” Ayew said.
