The former Shakhtar Donetsk grassroots youth coach of Under-11 and Under-13 teams affiliated to Shakhtar, who is now based in Ireland with his family, left Kharkiv, Ukraine when the Russia – Ukraine war started in February 2022.

Ojimadu left Nigeria in 1988 to study on a scholarship in the Soviet Union (now Russia) and later moved to Ukraine to start a business with his brother.

Despite being forced to leave the eastern Europe nation due to the war, Ojimadu still keep tabs with the situation and most especially, football activities in Ukraine.
