France forward, Kingsley Coman has been subjected to racist abuse on social media since he missed his penalty against Argentina.
The 2018 Champions had come from two goals down to level over 90 minutes with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice in two minutes, including an 80th-minute penalty.
Mbappe completed his hat-trick in the 118th with another spot-kick after Argentina took the lead through Lionel Messi tap in, in the 109th minute.
Coman’s penalty was saved by Argentina’s goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, and Aurelien Tchouameni fired wide to give Argentina their first world title since 1986, and third overall.
In the aftermath of the defeat, Coman received a number of racist comments on his Instagram page.
A tweep encouraged both Coman and Tchouameni to stay strong.
‘It’s a shame that a lot of comments are going to be racist towards Coman and Tchouameni after this. Head up lads you’ve been great.’
