Another match week, another goal for Victor Osimhen leading the line for the runaway league leaders Napoli in the Seria A this season.

Napoli fielded out for their 19th game of the season and a chance to go 12 points clear, which they took and cemented their spot at number 1.

As early as the 19th minute, Osimhen was already threatening the Saleritana defense and forcing Mexican veteran goalkeeper, Ochoa to make tremendous saves.

However, Saleritana were not sitting back as Piatek forced a save from Meret in Napoli goal and Candreva also causing problems for Napoli defense.

In the 34th minute, Osimhen put the ball in the back of the net with a well placed strike but his effort was immediately ruled out for offside by the linesman and confirmed by the VAR.

At the added on time of the first half, a blissful one-two pass from Anguissa and Elmas beat three Saleritana players and created a space for the Cameroonian to run into. Zambo Anguissa then played a cut back ground cross into the box for Captain Di Lorenzo to strike viciously into the net.

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the league leaders.

Napoli continued the second half as they ended the first with Victor Osimhen netting his 13th goal of the season in the 47th minute. Mario Rui found Elmas just outside the box and his strike hit the upright back into the six yards for the ever-alive Victor Osimhen to poach in.

Pirola tried to get one back for Saleritana but his effort was well saved by Meret and on the other end, Ochoa was also equal to Victor Osimhen’s header.

Mario Rui also tried to make it 3-0 and put the result beyond doubt but his effort was just wide. Piatek had a golden chance of getting Saleritana back in the game when Lobotka was caught off guard but Meret made sure of the clean sheet with an outstretched arm to parry the ball to the upright.

The game ended 2-0 with Napoli now on 50 points having won 16, drawn twice and lost just once (against Inter Milan).

Osimhen still remains the outright top scorer in the league so far with 13 goals and played less minutes than his competitors.
