Super Eagles vice captain, William Troost Ekong made his debut for Salernitana on Friday as they beat Leece at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mareto end their winless streak.

Ekong joined Salernitana during the week on loan from Watford till the end of the season and has had immediate impact as the club fight to stay in the Seria A.

Leece has already gotten points from some top Seria A teams this season including Napoli, Milan, Lazio and Atalanta.

Salernitana traveled to face Lecce with an opportunity to switch position with the home side on the Seria A table. Salernitana took their opportunity, winning Leece 1-2 away from home and climb to 14th position.

It was raining goals early on in the game, as a poor clearance header from Leece defender towards the path of Boulaye Dia was smashed home with a half volley by the Senegalese.

The 26-year-old turned creator fifteen minutes later, as his pass splitter the Leece defense for forward running Vilhena to slot in.

Leece hot one back in the 23rd minute through Strefezza‘a goal but couldn’t do enough to get an equalizer for the remaining 70+ minutes of the match.
