Victor Osimhen scored two goals to increase Napoli’s lead at the top of the Seria A table to sixteen points and increase his own lead in the top scorer chart.

Napoli’s sixteen point lead puts them in pole position to win the Scudetto for the first time since 1990 with a Diego Maradona led Napoli team.

Partenopei have now won five games in a row since losing at the turn of the year to Inter Milan.

After a goalless first half, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke the deadlock when he converted a penalty two minutes into the second half after a naive handball by Arkadiusz Reca.

Osimhen made it 2-0 with another header that beat Polish goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski in the 68th minute and five minutes later, the current top scorer scored his brace.

With his brace against Spezia, Osimhen became the fourth Napoli player to score sixteen goals in the first 21 Serie A games of a season, according to the statisticians at OPTA.

Three former Napoli players achieved the feat before him, namely Luis Vinicio (1955-56), Edinson Cavani (2012-13) and Gonzalo Higuain (2015-16).
