Super Falcons are one of the four teams competing at the Revelatons Cup this month, and Head Coach, Randy Waldrum is optimistic about the positives of participating in such tournament.

Nigeria will be one of the four countries participating in the pre-world cup competition staged in Mexico as a warm-up for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“I think this tournament is a good one to ship us off ahead of the world.”

“I think this tournament will be good preparation for us because in the last five games, we played the US twice. We played Canada twice, and we played Japan.”

“Those are five very, very difficult games. And I think it’s important that our team is winning and being successful in the things we’re trying to do.

“So I think these are games that hopefully we can do some of the things we’ve been working on and some of the things we’re trying to prepare for the World Cup.” He continued.

Speaking on the tournament, the 66-year-old manager said that he would have wanted to play his girls against Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland owing to their playing style.

“You know, in some way, I would have liked to play some European teams because our group has Canada, Ireland, and Australia, which play a completely different style than Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica will play.

“But having said that, I think these matches will allow us to gain some success and some other areas that we need to. So I’m just thankful to the president of the Federation for allowing us these games and this opportunity to have these 10 days together in preparation because we definitely need it,” Says the coach.

The Super Falcons will play Australia on July 21 in their first group match, again against Australia on July 27, and then against the Republic of Ireland in their final group match.
