Chelsea cult hero, Frank Leboeuf has stated the reasons for consecutive poor results from the Blues, citing lack of mentality and absence of leaders in the squad.

Chelsea weekend loss to bottom placed Southampton meant that the Blues has now lost 9 matches, drawn 5 and won only 2 matches in their last 15 outings with Graham Potter also having the second poorest win ratio in Chelsea’s Premier League history.

Captain Azpiliqueta was stretchered off the pitch in the loss to Southampton but he’s now recovering.

Meanwhile, Legends of the club like Frank Leboeuf believes it is the absence of multiple leaders in the squad that is the main reason why the bad result is continuing, as there is little or no organization and motivation.

Frank Leboeuf on Si and Dan Talk CFC podcast: “The biggest issue [Chelsea] definitely have is lack of strong mentalities still in the squad. I have friends still inside the club who have been working very close to the players. And apart from Cesar Azpilicueta, there are no leaders.”

With Azpiliqueta now out injured, the little leadership left in Chelsea seems to be departing with him. Although, the Spaniard is recovering and could touch grass soon.

The 33-year-old posted his injury update on Twitter, “Hi everyone! Thank you all for your love and messages of support! My family and I would like to thank everyone who has been looking after me since yesterday’s incident.

“From the @ChelseaFC medical team to teammates and opponents, to St Mary’s and Cleveland Hospital and all staff members and doctors: a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now, time to recover and I will see you soon on the pitch!”

Jorginho’s departure to Arsenal means Chelsea have lost their vice-captain to their rivals, Arsenal. Players like Thiago Silva, Koulibaly who have been captain of their club side and national team are expected to step up and lead the team in the path of glory.
